About Us

Our Story

Founded at the iconic Van Nuys Airport in 2021, Clipper Aviation began operating as a flight school. We continue to train aspiring pilots every day and are proud to see each aviator gain their wings. Now with ten primary training aircraft (a mix of Cirrus, Piper, Cessna, and American Champion), we offer instruction from Private Pilot through to advanced ratings.
In 2025, Clipper Aviation expanded its flight training operations with the opening of a new location in Santa Barbara, furthering our commitment to developing the next generation of pilots.

Clipper Aviation expanded into maintenance services in late 2022 with the acquisition of Mather Aviation’s Van Nuys location. We are incredibly fortunate to have gained the deep experience of the Mather team, which we continue to build on and invest in. More recently, we have expanded into offering pitot-static and transponder testing, troubleshooting, and certification, ensuring that we are ready to meet a wide range of our customers’ needs.

Our latest expansion occurred with the acquisition of Van Nuys-based Part 135 charter operation Envol Jets, Inc. in March 2023. With this growth, we welcomed Envol’s deeply experienced operations personnel, several with backgrounds at regulatory oversight agencies, including the FAA. We continue to benefit from Envol’s strong track record, with additional strategic hires to support continued expansion of fleet, team, and capabilities.

Facilities

We are proudly located at The Park VNY at the world-famous Van Nuys Airport (KVNY) and at Santa Barbara Airport (KSBA).

Our facilities include multiple dedicated classrooms for instructional activities, a dedicated simulator bay, and a multi-hangar footprint for aircraft maintenance and storage at both locations.

Headquarters

The main office and reception area of Clipper Aviation, where the administrative and management team is located. It serves as the central hub for all operations and services provided by the company.

Classroom

Dedicated classroom spaces for pilot training and education. These rooms are equipped with the latest training materials and technology to provide students with a comfortable and effective learning environment.

Simulator Room

A place for both aspiring and experienced pilots to train and practice their skills in simulated cockpit environments. Clipper Aviation’s simulators are designed to replicate real-life flight characteristics and scenarios, and are essential tools for pilot training, certification and proficiency.

Sales Office

This is where Clipper Aviation's aircraft brokerage team is located. The team helps clients buy, sell, or lease aircraft and provides expert guidance and support throughout the process.

Extensive Hangar Space

Clipper Aviation is proud to have six 60 x 50 hangars at the Van Nuys Airport in additon to many ramp spaces. This ensures our airplanes are kept to the highest standards. We even have a ping-pong table that we love to play when we are not out teaching (you are welcome to challenge any of our team members.)

Operations Center

This is where the maintenance and repair team is located. They oversee the day-to-day operations of the repair station and manage the maintenance and repair schedules for all aircraft under Clipper Aviation's management.

Maintenance Facility

Clipper Aviation Maintenance (formerly Mather Aviation Van Nuys) is an FAA Approved Repair Station. We are proud to serve as an Aircraft Service Center partner for numerous general aviation OEMs.
